For the past 34 years, Tom’s responsibilities have been to maintain the quality of Glavin’s services, relationships and financial position. Tom’s most rewarding work comes from solving problems with his team and his clients. The best business advice that he has received is “take care of the people that take care of you.” The advice came from Tom’s father and it characterizes how he structures the Glavin Security Specialists business. Tom’s longevity in the industry has been highlighted by his involvement within key organizations. He currently holds positions on the BOMA Chicago Board, the BOMA Chicago Security Committee and the Emergency Preparedness Committee.
Tom’s favorite location in the city is the lakefront: “The most valuable 18 miles of real estate in our beautiful city is open to everyone. Whether you’re rich or poor, whether you’ve been in Chicago five minutes or five generations it’s yours to enjoy.”

Pat considers the team as a part of her family and what gives her the greatest sense of accomplishment is that Glavin has many team members who have worked in the company for over twenty years. The best advice Pat has been given are “Be patient” and “Never use the words, ‘I’ll never.'”
Pat’s favorite Chicago activities are walking along the lakefront as well as eating at all of the great Chicago restaurants with her best friend, Tom.
Meg Glavin
Project Manager and Trainer
Over her time with the company, Meg Glavin’s contributions to the team have been varied and include: creating a new database, maintaining the key records for Glavin’s oldest customer, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, as well as keeping the company policies and procedures current. Meg currently runs training for Glavin team members and technicians on processes, products, and policies. She also works closely with her father, Tom Glavin, on Security Control Pathway™. Meg has been avidly learning all aspects of the family business. Both Tom and Pat Glavin take time to coach Meg through the challenges and rewards of running a company.
Meg is a member of the BOMA Chicago Emerging Leader sub-committee and is involved with the Loyola University Chicago Alumni. Outside of the office, Meg loves to quilt, cook, travel and spend time with her family. Meg’s favorite place in the city is the roof of the John Hancock, “The city is so peaceful from 103 floors up!”
Kelvin Long
Customer Solutions
Kelvin’s career with Glavin his work has always been focused on customer service. Initially, Kelvin worked at Glavin in the retail store, answering phones and listening to the customer’s issues. Finding that he enjoyed visualizing the problems and developing solutions, Kelvin moved on to working on accounts first-hand. He now spends his time doing the work he finds the most rewarding; working directly with customers to find and apply solutions that meet their needs.
Some of the best advice that Kelvin has received is to focus his attention on things that he can control: “If I can’t affect it or direct it. I accept it.” Kelvin is also involved with education at the local 399 Union where he teaches locksmith classes.
Kelvin loves Chicago in its entirety, especially the sports teams. “I love our sports teams because of their hard work and team mentality.” Aside from the energy of Chicago sports, Kelvin enjoys the lakeshore and the parks because they are peaceful and relaxing.
